What are you doing this week? Will you participate in our Days of Action, October 15-16?
Tell Congress:
- Get back to work and don’t touch Social Security!
- Pull us back from the brink without cutting Medicare!
- Why not Single Payer Healthcare – Medicare for All?
Tea Party factions in Congress have shut down our national government in a failed bid to stop the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Now they are threatening to throw our national economy back into recession by refusing to raise the debt ceiling. They’ve also changed their focus from the ACA to instead demanding changes to Medicare that will raise premiums and out-of-pocket costs for moderate-income beneficiaries. If they succeed at that, Social Security is sure to be next on their target list.
Call your Representative: Tell him/her to end the shutdown and stop an economic meltdown. Call the Capitol switchboard: (202) 224-3121 to be directed to your Representative's office.
Suggested message when you call: "As your constituent, I want you to act NOW to end the government shutdown and don’t let the far Right hold the economy hostage. Please vote to restore funding for all of the services that families count on and to protect Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and food stamps. The Affordable Care Act is a first step, but please also co-sponsor HR676, the Medicare FOR ALL bill."
Thank you for your activism! Duane Campbell. Sacramento DSA. ( a part of the Progressive Alliance.)
