Former top DOJ official explains why there’s no end in sight for Trump’s legal troubles — regardless of what Mueller does
Former top DOJ official explains why there’s no end in sight for Trump’s legal troubles — regardless of what Mueller does: With special counsel Robert Mueller's probe reportedly delivering a report to Attorney General William Barr as soon as next week, President Donald Trump may feel that if the report fails to implicate him directly in any specific wrongdoing, he will finally be out of the woods.

Protest and Survive !
The nationwide demonstrations on Monday will be led by a large coalition of diverse advocacy groups representing millions of Americans, including Win Without War, CREDO Action, MoveOn.org, Public Citizen, United We Dream, and others.
"Our most pressing national emergency is that a racist autocrat occupies the White House," CREDO Action co-director Heidi Hess said in a statement. "The media and politicians should be perfectly clear about what this is: An unconstitutional power grab that threatens our democracy and escalates Trump's attacks on immigrants, communities of color, Muslims and black and brown people."
"There is already a mass mobilization happening against Trump's wall," added America's Voice. "Fifty thousand signed MoveOn petitions against the national emergency overnight, ten thousand made calls to Congress, thousands of people expected to hit the streets on Monday. This is a moment."

Oppose U.S. Intervention in Venezuela
California Democrat Ro Khanna and Washington Democrat Pramila Jayapal are circulating a letter “rejecting threats of US military intervention in Venezuela, supporting dialogue to resolve the political crisis there, and opposing broad economic sanctions that hurt ordinary Venezuelans.” The vast majority of Venezuelans are opposed to foreign intervention as a means of removing the Venezuelan government and instead want a negotiated solution to the crisis. The letter urges support for a mediation process advocated by the governments of Mexico and Uruguay to promote dialogue instead of civil war. Existing and new economic sanctions have seriously worsened Venezuela’s economic crisis, exacerbating lack of access to life-saving medicines and food. Polls show that most Venezuelans oppose broad U.S. economic sanctions.
- We call on House Members to sign the Khanna-Jayapal letter to reject threats of U.S. military intervention in Venezuela, support dialogue to resolve the political crisis there, and oppose broad economic sanctions that hurt ordinary Venezuelans.
- We call on House Members to sign the Khanna-Jayapal letter to reject threats of U.S. military intervention in Venezuela, support dialogue to resolve the political crisis there, and oppose broad economic sanctions that hurt ordinary Venezuelans.
Please Call your representative (find your rep here) now to demand they do the right thing for the people of Venezuela. The letter closes TODAY, so please call as soon as you can!

#MeToo Speaker at Sac State
Long before #MeToo became a viral online campaign in 2017, social justice activist Tarana Burke quietly was working to give voice to people who had been sexually harassed and assaulted.
She called her movement Me Too. But it was only after actress Alyssa Milano attached a hashtag to the phrase and posted it on Twitter that Burke’s decade-long crusade burst into the international spotlight.
Burke will be on the Sacramento State campus Thursday evening, Feb. 7, to discuss the history and impact of the movement, which has spurred millions of people to share their stories about sexual violence.
She is scheduled to speak at 7:30 p.m. in the University Union Ballroom. The lecture is part of UNIQUE, a Sac State volunteer group that brings cultural events and entertainment to campus.
In 2007, Burke created a nonprofit group, Just Be Inc., that focuses on young women of color and helps them overcome the fallout of sexual harassment and assault. The organization seeks to help girls get “past their risk and around their circumstances” and put them on a path to success, according to its website.
Me Too is one of its centerpieces.
